HOUSING

The Corporation d'habitation Jeanne-Mance provides low-income citizens living in Greater Montreal with housing for families or seniors.

The Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal (OMHM) processes housing applications for Habitations Jeanne-Mance as part of a service agreement.

To request housing, fill out a housing application with the OMHM (OMHM) and include all necessary documents.

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify, you must meet all the conditions below:
AGEYou're at least 18 or an emancipated minor.
STATUSYou're a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
RESIDENCEYou've lived in Greater Montreal for 12 consecutive months in the two years before you apply for housing.
ASSETSThe total value of assets owned by the persons listed on the application must not exceed $25,000.
INDEPENDANCEYou must be able to meet your own essential needs or those of your household or provide proof that you will receive the support required.
INCOMEFor all persons listed on the application, total gross annual income from the previous year must not exceed the maximum amounts allowed under the Canada-Quebec Global Agreement on Social Housing.

INELIGIBLE:
 Student
Full-time students at a secondary or post-secondary school or university if they have no dependent children.
 Former tenants
Former tenants of social housing or Habitations Jeanne-Mance whose lease was cancelled because they moved out without notification, owed money to the OMHM, CHJM or a landlord, or because the rental board decided to withdraw housing.


APPLICATION ASSESSMENT AND WAITING LISTS

Your application will be assessed in keeping with eligibility requirements and housing criteria in force for Habitations Jeanne-Mance. You'll then be placed on a specific waiting list.

There are different waiting lists depending on:
> The type of housing required (families, seniors or people with impaired mobility).
> The number of rooms required.

COST OF HOUSING

For housing of all sizes, monthly rent equals 25% of a household's income. Extra charges for electricity, parking (if available), air conditioning and other services may be added to basic rent.

For example, a household whose monthly income is $1,000 will pay a monthly rent of $250 for an apartment, plus electricity costs and other extra charges that may apply.



PARKING

The Corporation d'habitation Jeanne-Mance rents parking spaces on a monthly or yearly basis.

From 1st January 2010, prices are:

  Non-resident*   $120
  Horoparc – Ontario St.**   Hourly rate

* Monthly price amounting to 110$ for a year’s rent.
** Horoparc located at Sanguinet av. is permanently closed
